Join us on an extraordinary journey with Tenterhooks, a groundbreaking collaboration between Marsden-born Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, the acclaimed band LYR, Marsden Mechanics and, most importantly, the people of Marsden. This visionary project invites the local community to take part in a series of creative workshops and events, where together, we will work the rich heritage of Marsden into a new series poems, songs and works of art.
In the first instance, the project invites the people of Marsden to engage in a series of discussions, where together we’ll uncover untold stories of Marsden’s rich heritage to inspire a series of new poems and lyrics to be written by Simon. These co-created poems will then be gifted back to the community for personal or group interpretation and performance. The adventure culminates in what will be an unforgettable Cuckoo Day Festival in April 2025, where Marsden’s collective voice will resonate in celebration of its past, present, and future.
Tenterhooks is more than just an event—it’s a happening, a shared experience, and a legacy in the making. Be part of the story.
